Razor clam digs approved Apr. 16 through Apr. 21

Action: Opens Razor clam seasons. Daily limit is increased to 20 clams per harvester.

April 16, Saturday, 7:03 AM; -0.2 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis

April 17, Sunday, 7:45 AM; -0.8 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks

April 18, Monday, 8:28 AM; -1.2 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis

April 19, Tuesday, 9:14 AM; -1.3 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks

April 20, Wednesday, 10:04 AM; -1.2 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis

April 21, Thursday, 10:59 AM; -0.9 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks

Locations:

Long Beach, which extends from the Columbia River to Leadbetter Point.

Twin Harbors Beach, which extends from Cape Shoalwater to the south jetty at the mouth of Grays Harbor.

Copalis Beach, which extends from the Grays Harbor north jetty to the Copalis River, and includes Ocean Shores, Oyhut, Ocean City and Copalis areas.

Mocrocks Beach, which extends from the Copalis River to the southern boundary of the Quinault Reservation near the Moclips River, including Iron Springs, Roosevelt Beach, Pacific Beach and Moclips.

Reason for action: Harvestable numbers of razor clams are available. Toxin levels are safe on these beaches.

Additional information: Based on recent assessment harvest the Department has determined that increasing the daily limit to 20 clams is warranted. Also, this round of digging coincides with the Long Beach Razor Clam Festival occurring on the weekend of April 16 -17.
