Recreational spot shrimp fishing reopening
in Marine Area 11 and a portion of Marine Area 10

Action: Recreational spot shrimp fishing will reopen for one day (Wednesday, May 22) in Marine Area 11 and a portion of Marine Area 10, which includes all Marine Area 10 waters outside of Elliott Bay.

Effective date: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

Species affected: All shrimp species including spot shrimp.

Location: Marine Area 11 and Marine Area 10, excluding Elliott Bay (Elliott Bay is defined as all waters east of a line from West Point to Alki Point).

Reason for action: Sufficient recreational spot shrimp quota remains for one more day of fishing. The Elliott Bay portion of Marine Area 10 has a separate spot shrimp quota, and the quota has been reached in that area.

Other information: On last week's shrimp openers, several Puget Sound fishing areas experienced a 30 percent increase in participation over the previous season, so at this point it is unlikely that other central Puget Sound areas will reopen.
