Salmon season closes in Marine Area 7

February 11, 2015

Action: Closes fishing for salmon in Area 7.

Effective Date: Feb. 16 through April 30, 2015.

Species affected: All salmon.

Location: Marine Area 7 (San Juan Islands).

Reason for action: Preliminary estimates indicate that encounters with hatchery and wild chinook have exceeded the preseason expectations which were set to ensure compliance with conservation objectives and agreed-to management plans. The fishery is being closed to control impacts on stocks of concern.

Other information: Anglers should consult the Fishing in Washington, Sports Fishing Rules pamphlet for other specific regulations.
