Salmon season suspended in Marine Area 10

January 14, 2021

Action: Closes salmon fishing.

Effective date: Jan. 19, 2021, until further notice.

Species affected: Salmon.

Location: Marine Area 10.

Reason for action: Anglers have reached nearly half (282 of 579) of this fishery’s allowed natural-origin Chinook encounter guideline within the first 10 days of the season. WDFW, in consultation with fishing advisors for Puget Sound, has decided to temporarily close this fishery until later in the season in order to preserve future fishing opportunities and to limit impacts to natural-origin Chinook.

Additional information: Year-round piers; Bremerton Boardwalk, Illahee State Park Pier, Seacrest Pier, and Waterman Pier remain open for salmon fishing.

Information contact: Fish Program, 360-902-2700.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations. Fishing rules are subject to change. Visit wdfw.wa.gov/fishing-hotlines to find a list of mobile, web, print, or customer service phone options for the latest rule information.
