Sarg Hubbard Park Pond to close for “Kids’ Fish-In”
Action: Closes Sarg Hubbard Park Pond (Reflection Pond) to all fishing except those youths registered for the "Kid'' Fish-In" event on Saturday, April 26, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition, the daily limit is reduced to two trout during the event.
Effective dates: April 23, 12:01 a.m. to April 26, 4:00 pm
Species affected: All game fish.
Location: Sarg Hubbard Park Pond located on the Yakima Greenway in Yakima.
Reason for action: This rule change is necessary to assure a successful youth fishing event. Several thousand rainbow trout will be stocked four days prior to the event to acclimate them to assure they will bite while the kids are fishing. During the event, only registered kids will be allowed to fish.
Other information: The pond re-opens to the public on April 26 at 4:00 p.m. Sarg Hubbard Park Pond is open to fishing only by juvenile anglers (under 15 years old) and adults with a disability who have a designated harvester companion card.
