Sarg Hubbard Park Pond to close for “Kids’ Fish-In” event

Action: Closes Sarg Hubbard Park (Reflection) Pond to all fishing except those youths registered for the "Kids' Fish-In" event on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, the daily limit is reduced to two trout during the event.

Effective date: 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, April 17 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019.

Species affected: All game fish.

Location: Sarg Hubbard Park Pond located on the Yakima Greenway in Yakima.

Reason for action: This rule change is necessary to ensure a successful youth fishing event. Several thousand rainbow trout will be stocked prior to the event for acclimation. This helps ensure they will bite while the kids are fishing. During the event, only registered kids will be allowed to fish.

Additional information: The pond re-opens to the public on April 20, 2019 at 4 p.m. Sarg Hubbard Park Pond is open for fishing only to juvenile anglers (under 15 years old), seniors (70+), and adults with a disability who have a designated harvester companion card.

Information contact: Marc Divens, District 8 Fish Biologist, (509) 457-9301 (Yakima).

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations.
