Shrimp seasons for all shrimp species except spot shrimp are being announced for Marine Areas 8-1, 8-2, 9, 11, and 13

Action: Seasons to harvest all shrimp except spot shrimp (non-spot seasons) are being offered beginning in June for Marine Areas 8-1, 8-2, 9, 11, and 13 according to the schedule below.

Effective dates by area:

Marine Areas 8-1 and 8-2 will be open June 3 through October 15 for shrimp species other than spot shrimp with a 150-foot maximum fishing depth restriction. During this time it is unlawful to set or pull shrimp gear in waters greater than 150 feet deep. All spot shrimp caught must be immediately returned to the water unharmed.

Marine Area 9 will be open June 3 through October 15 for shrimp species other than spot shrimp with a 150-foot maximum fishing depth restriction. During this time it is unlawful to set or pull shrimp gear in waters greater than 150 feet deep. All spot shrimp caught must be immediately returned to the water unharmed.

Marine Area 11 will be open June 3 through October 15 for shrimp species other than spot shrimp with a 150-foot maximum fishing depth restriction. During this time it is unlawful to set or pull shrimp gear in waters greater than 150 feet deep. All spot shrimp caught must be immediately returned to the water unharmed.

Marine Area 13 will be open June 1 through October 15 for shrimp species other than spot shrimp with a 200-foot maximum fishing depth restriction. During this time it is unlawful to set or pull shrimp gear in waters greater than 200 feet deep. All spot shrimp caught must be immediately returned to the water unharmed.

Species affected: All shrimp species except spot shrimp which includes coonstripe shrimp, dock shrimp, pink shrimp, and sidestripe shrimp.

Locations: Marine Areas 8-1, 8-2, 9, 11, and 13.

Reason for action: To harvest non-spot shrimps consistent with State/Tribal management agreements.
