beginning on Black Friday

Action: Six lakes in Southwest Washington to close and reopen for a jumbo rainbow trout fishery.

Species affected: Rainbow trout.

Effective dates: Closure starts 12:01 am, Monday, Nov. 19, and reopens Friday, Nov. 23.

Location: Fort Borst Park Pond, near Centrailia, Lewis County. South Lewis County Park Pond, near Toledo, Lewis County. Kress Lake, near Kalama, Cowlitz County. Battleground Lake, located at Battleground State Park, and Klineline Pond in Vancouver, both in Clark County, and Rowland Lake, east of Bingen, Klickitat County.

Daily limits: Limits in the lakes will not change from listing in the pamphlet.

Other information: Lakes will close to provide time for fish to be planted and acclimated. Lakes will open the day after Thanksgiving. Lakes are being planted with rainbow trout that should average over 1.25 pounds each. Fort Borst is a juvenile anglers only water. All of the lakes are receiving 2000 trout each.

Reason for action: These fish were grown as an opportunity to try and provide quality family trout fishing during the Thanksgiving weekend. The opener allows anglers to plan their trip to these lakes and equal access to these fish on the day of the opener.
