Action: Open the Skokomish River for salmon fishing Aug. 1.
Effective Dates: Aug. 1 through Sept. 30, 2011.
Species affected: Salmon.
Location: Skokomish River from mouth to Highway 101.
Reason for action: State and tribal co-managers have reached agreement on fishery schedules that meet conservation goals and reduce potential gear conflict.
Other Information: Fishery will be closed to sport fishing from the SR 106 Bridge upstream to the Highway 101 Bridge on the following dates:
Monday, Aug. 1;
Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 8 and 9;
Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 15 and 16;
Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 22 and 23;
Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 29 and 30; and
Tuesday, Sept. 6
Min. size 12". Daily limit 2. Release CHUM and wild CHINOOK. Only fish hooked inside the mouth may be retained. Anglers must retain the first 2 SALMON, if legal to do so, and stop fishing.
Night closure, anti-snagging rule, and single-point barbless hooks required. Terminal gear (hooks, weights, lures or baits) and line must not be within 25 feet of tribal gillnets.
Anglers are reminded that fishing for Game Fish is closed during August and September from mouth to Highway 101.
