April 13, 2005

Sport Clam and Oyster season closed at
Scenic Beach State Park

Action: The sport clam and oyster fishing seasons at Scenic Beach State Park are closed until further notice.

Effective date: Immediately

Species affected: All clams, except razor clams, and oysters.

Location: Scenic Beach State Park, located in Kitsap County on the east side of Hood Canal.

Reason for action: Recent surveys indicate a significant decrease in the oyster population and a limited clam population that will not permit this beach to open for either oyster or clam harvest in 2005.

Information contact: Alex Bradbury, WDFW Point Whitney Shellfish Laboratory, (360) 586-1498, ext. 208.
