Sport clam and oyster seasons close at Sequim Bay State Park

April 3, 2015

Action: The sport clam and oyster season at Sequim Bay State Park will
close until May 1.

Effective date: Closes April 6 and will reopen May 1 through May 31, 2015.

Species affected: All clams and oysters.

Location: Sequim Bay State Park is located east of Sequim in Clallam County.

Reason for action: Surveys at Sequim Bay State Park indicate that the clam
and oyster populations on this beach have decreased, and the state share of clams and oysters were overharvested in 2014, requiring a shorter season in 2015. The oyster season coincides with the clam season.
