Sport clam season extended at Brown Point (DNR 57-B)

March 10, 2004

Action: The sport clam fishing season at Brown Point (DNR 57-B), previously scheduled to open January 1, 2004 through April 15, 2004, is extended through June 30, 2004.

Effective date: Immediately through June 30, 2004.

Species affected: All clams, except razor clams.

Location: Brown Point (DNR 57-B) in Jefferson County.

Reason for action: A shortened clam season at Brown Point was necessary in 2003 to compensate for over-harvest in 2002. No over-harvest occurred in 2003, and surveys indicate that the clam population can accommodate an extended season through June 30.
