Spot shrimp fishing closing in Marine Areas 4 and 5

Action: Marine Areas 4 (east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line) and 5 are closing to recreational spot shrimp fishing for the season.

Effective date: Friday, September 15, 2017, at 8:30 p.m.

Species affected: Spot shrimp.

Location: Marine Areas 4 (east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line) and 5.

Reason for action: To protect female spot shrimp during the onset of the egg-bearing period.

Other information: Marine Areas 4 and 5 will remain open daily until October 15 for coonstripe and pink shrimp fishing, any spot shrimp caught must be immediately returned to the water. All other Puget Sound Marine Areas are already closed to spot shrimp fishing, and those areas that remain open for coonstripe and pink shrimp fishing will close for the season on October 15.
