Stillaguamish River below Marine Drive to re-open to fishing

May 25, 2010

Action: Reopen the Stillaguamish River downstream of Marine Drive.

Effective date: June 1, 2010.

Species affected: All game fish species.

Additional information: Other sections of the Stillaguamish River previously closed by emergency rule will reopen as listed in the 2010/2011 Fishing In Washington Rules Pamphlet.

Reason for action: The previous closure, which was designed to protect wild winter steelhead, is no longer necessary because most of those fish have spawned and moved out of the watershed.

Information contacts: Jennifer Whitney, District 13 fish biologist, (425) 775-1311; Annette Hoffmann, Region 4 Fish Program manager, (425) 775-1311.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations.
