Temporary closure scheduled for Skagit River from Gilligan Creek to Baker River

October 1, 2024

Action:  Closes all fishing from Gilligan Creek to the Baker River.

Effective dates:  Wednesday Oct. 2 through Thursday Oct. 3, 2024.

Species affected:  All species.

Location:  Skagit River (Skagit County) from Gilligan Creek to the mouth of the Baker River.

Reason for action:  This area of the Skagit River will close to all fishing to avoid gear conflicts during scheduled treaty fisheries.

Additional information:  Please note the normal lower boundary has been moved upstream to Gilligan Creek.

Anglers are asked to respect tribal fishers and reminded to not interfere with tribal fisheries. Conflicts that arise during ongoing fisheries could lead to additional time and area closures including closing the Hwy9 to Gilligan area during future conflict closures. Anglers can check the emergency rules webpage for updates or sign up for the Fishing Rule Change alerts email list on the WDFW webpage.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations. Fishing rules are subject to change. Visit wdfw.wa.gov/fishing-hotlines to find a list of mobile, web, print, or customer service phone options for the latest rule information.
