WDFW Beach Season Information
Clam, mussel, and oyster seasons OPEN for harvest year-round.
Please obey Department of Health warning signs and stay well to the south of the north boundary of Drayton West. The area north of a line of fiberglass posts is in a Marina zone and is closed year-round for clams, mussels and oysters.
WDFW shellfish seasons indicate the specific times of year when harvesting is permitted. Before heading to the beach, please also check the Department of Health (DOH) information below which is related to health of the shellfish and may be updated daily. To harvest on this beach, it must be both during the WDFW approved season and approved by the DOH.
This is a good beach for Manila clams, native littleneck clams and butter clams. Cockles and varnish clams are also found here, and there are probably some horse clams. Most of the clam harvest occurs near the north end of Drayton West. The boundary between the open portion of Drayton West and the closed area of Semiahmoo Marina is marked with a line of fiberglass posts extending across the beach from the area near the informational kiosk. The adjacent tidelands north of this line, including Semiahmoo Marina, are CLOSED year-round to the harvest of shellfish due to pollution.
From I5 coming north, take exit #274 and continue west on Peace Portal Way. Turn left at SR 548 (S. Bell Rd.) Turn right at Drayton Road and continue onto Drayton Harbor road. Turn right into Semiahmoo Parkway.
There is parking in several areas along Semiahmoo Spit.
There are rest rooms on the west side of the spit near the base of the spit, near the middle of the spit and near the end of the spit. The last restroom, parking lot and access trail to the beach before the Semiahmoo Resort and Marina is located just south of the north end of this beach.
