The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is providing these management recommendations to inform local government permit reviewers, applicants, consultants, and landowners working on projects with potential impacts to Mazama pocket gopher, a state-listed threatened species. These recommendations are not regulatory, but are based on best available science for avoiding, minimizing, and mitigating impacts to gophers and their habitat, which is primarily located in South Puget Sound.
