In 2024, adverse netting conditions (low reservoir elevation) prevented normal netting operations, resulting in a total of 18 nets being deployed and no Northern Pike (NP) removed between April 11 and April 13 (Figure 1). In total, 829 NP have been removed since mechanical suppression effort began in Boundary Reservoir in 2016. Due to the extremely low catch rate for the last two consecutive years (2023-2024), and no Northern Pike observed since 2021 during routine reservoir sampling conducted by Seattle City Light, the Kalispel Natural Resources Department and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife decided to suspend the 2024 SPIN survey.
