PUGET SOUND COMMERCIAL SALMON FISHERIES REGULATION HOTLINE 2024-18, Week 42, 10/15/2024 3:45 PM For the remainder of the week beginning Sunday, October 13, all areas are closed except as follows: Area 6D (Dungeness Bay) will be open to: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size : Open 7 AM to 7PM Daily: Tuesday, October 15, through Friday, October 18. All Chinook must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Chum may be retained beginning Tuesdaty, October 15. Area 7 (San Juan Islands) and 7 A (Point Roberts) will be open to: Reef Nets: 5 AM to 9 PM Daily: Sunday, October 13, through Saturday, October 19. Reef Nets must release all sockeye, and Chinook. Gillnet using 6 ΒΌ-inch minimum mesh size: 7 AM to midnight Monday, October 14, 7 AM to midnight Tuesday, October 15. Recovery boxes are required and soak times are limited to 45 minutes from first mesh in to last mesh out. Gillnets must release all Chinook,coho, and sockeye. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: 7 AM to 6 PM Monday October 14, and 7 AM to 6 PM Tuesday, October 15. Brailing and recovery boxes are required. Purse seines must release all Chinook, coho, and sockeye. WDFW, Co-Managers, and DFO will convene Thursday October 17 to evaluate further Area 7 and 7 A openings Friday October 18 and Saturday October 19. Areas 7 B (Bellingham Bay) will be open to: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: Open continuously through midnight Sunday, November 2. Retention of sockeye is prohibited. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open continuously through 6 PM Sunday, November 2. Brailing is required, and purse seines must release all sockeye. Area 8D (Tulalip Bay) will be open west of a line from Mission Point to Hermosa Point to: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: Open 6 PM Sunday, October 13 to 8 AM Monday, October 14. 6 PM Monday, October 14 to 8 AM Thursday, October 17. 6 PM Thursday, October 17 to 8 AM Friday, October 18. All sockeye must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh Area 9 A (Port Gamble Bay) will be open to: Skiff gill nets with nets not to exceed 600 feet in length and 60 meshes in depth using 5-inch minimum mesh, is open continuously through 7 PM Saturday, November 2. All Chinook and chum must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Area 10 (Seattle) and Area 11 (Vashon Island) will be open to: Gillnets using 6 1/4-inch minimum mesh size: Open 5 PM Wednesday, October 16, to 9AM Thursday, October 17. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open 7 AM to 6PM, Thursday October 17. Purse Seines Must release all Chinook and Coho. Areas 12 and 12-B (Hood Canal): Gillnets using 6 1/4-inch minimum mesh size: Open 7 AM to 8 PM Tuesday, October 15. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open 7 AM to 6 PM Thursday, October 17. Purse Seines Must release all Chinook and Coho. Area 9 (Apple Cove Point): WDFW/NWIFC ACP Test Fishery and the WDFW Area 11 Research Fisheries will take place Wednesday, October 16.
