Ocean sport salmon quota report

Updated: September 11, 2024

The ocean sport salmon quota report is updated once a week, typically by Friday.

The Ilwaco, La Push, and Neah Bay ocean management areas opened for recreational salmon fishing for all species on June 22. The Westport ocean management area opened for recreational salmon fishing for all species on June 30. Catch details for each area are described below, where available.

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) approved a recreational Chinook quota of 41,000 fish, up from last year’s quota of 39,000. The PFMC, which establishes fishing seasons in ocean waters 3 to 200 miles off the Pacific coast, also adopted a quota of 79,800 hatchery coho for this year's recreational ocean fishery. This represents a decrease over last year’s initial coho quota of 159,600, but still should provide fair coho fishing opportunity and a quality ocean salmon fishing season.
