Coastal Dungeness Crab Advisory Group

The Coastal Dungeness Crab Advisory Group recommends actions to WDFW designed to support sustainable fishing opportunities for the coastal commercial Dungeness crab fishery. WDFW formed the group to provide recommendations on setting commercial seasons and on wide variety of fishery management issues.

The board is comprised of 15 members, who are appointed by the Director and serve two-year terms that are renewable. WDFW works to balance group membership with fishers who represent each of the major coastal fishing ports and those who operate larger and smaller fishing vessels. The group generally meets several times between October and December to discuss the setting of the coastal commercial Dungeness crab season. Often the group meets again in April and or May to discuss other issues pertinent to the management of the coastal commercial Dungeness crab fishery.
